WHAT:

Thomas will be presenting his final-year engineering project as well as outlining the tasks he has been involved in with during his internship at ANAVIA.

Iain will be presenting on his recent flight to and from Norfolk Island, in particular on February 24th 2025 Iain flew a single engine Tecnam Sierra to Norfolk Island from Kerikeri; a trip that involved a year of preparation and planning. This included ferry tank fitting, getting permission to use satellite phone as an alternative to HF radio, new registration decals, survival gear purchase, international VFR flight planning, some testing and coming to terms with the Customs and Biosecurity requirements. Iain’s trip to Norfolk went well despite some bad weather. After a full day on the ground Iain flew back, talked to an airliner and buzzed by the Three Kings Islands. Iain’s talk will take you through the adventure describing what went well, and what didn’t and what might perhaps come next.
