Membership

The Royal Aeronautical Society is well known and respected throughout the world’s aerospace community. Membership implies a commitment and involvement in aerospace. Join a New Zealand community of Aerospace Professionals today!

Membership applications to the NZ Division are processed through the parent Society in the UK, giving you access to the full range of resources available to RAeS members.

Membership grades

We have different membership types to suit anyone interested in, studying, or working in the aviation or aerospace industry. Our graded memberships are designed to recognise you at different stages of your career and will provide you with post-nominal letters.

Student Affiliate

If you are studying full-time in an aerospace or aviation related subject, then you can apply for FREE student membership. Other students can apply for a paid student membership at a reduced rate.

Affiliate

People looking to enhance their enthusiasm in the aeronautical and aerospace sector. Anyone interested can join the Society and enjoy the benefits of membership (such as an AEROSPACE magazine subscription) at the Affiliate Grade.

Associate (ARAeS)

If you have recently graduated then you can apply for the Associate grade.

If you have been working in industry without a degree or level 3 qualification, then you an apply with 3 years of industry experience.

Associate Member (AMRAeS)

For those who have graduated and gained at least two years’ experience in the aeronautical or aviation industry. Those without an ordinary degree or equivalent can apply with 12 years’ experience.

Member (MRAeS)

For those with an Honours degree plus four years’ experience, or without a degree with 15 years’ or more experience in the aeronautical or aviation industry.

Fellow (FRAeS)

The highest grade of membership, awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions, attained a position of high responsibility, or had a long career of high quality in the profession of aeronautics.
