SUBJECT: Our presenter at this meeting Des Underwood will introduce the June meeting of the video replay of the interview with
former Chief Concorde Pilot Mike Bannister where he shares personal anecdotes from a remarkable career flying the iconic supersonic airliner.
The recording of the Heritage lecture is supported by very informative and colourful slides.
2026 marks the 23rd anniversary of the iconic aircraft’s last passenger service by British Airways and Air France in 2003, yet he is still faced with the same questions by those who attended the original lecture.
The Heritage lecture followed the release of a book titled: Concorde Mike Bannister had written and released in 2022. The book is still in print and available from the Tauranga Library.
After the replay of the interview and questions, Des will
- Pose some questions about Concorde
- Share personal recollections of several Concorde aircraft in various locations in UK and Europe, and
- Invite others present to share their experience of Concorde
